Apple Store Weirdness

Today was WWDC (Apple’s World Wide Developers Conference). It is one of two big events (the other being the Macworld Expo that Apple no longer goes to) that Mac-addicts like me wait for and watch live. They always unveil some new products or at least refresh existing products. So, the Apple online store goes down for the duration of the keynote speech until they finish unveiling all the shiny new products.

I, being a complete fanboy, decided to save a web archive of the famous “We’ll be back soon” sticky note page. Usually saving a web archive is painless: just go to File>Save and press the save button or press cmd+S and enter. But this time when I did it an error message saying, “The document ‘The Apple Store’ could not be exported as ‘the Apple Store’.” I thought it was odd and tried other sites including other parts of Apple.com. They all worked!

Could it be a conspiracy? Do any of you have a reasonable explanation? We may never figure out why… but on a related note, new iPhone!

It now has 7.2 Mbps HSDPA, 3 megapixel camera with autofocus and video, compass, voice control and more. Go here to see what other features it has. I’m totally getting this in July once the dust settles. They also updated the Macbooks. They are cheaper, faster, and more powerful with longer lasting batteries and some new features. See them here. So the first day of WWDC was awesome (even though I’m not there). I cannot wait for my new iPhone and Snow Leopard when it arrives for $29 in September.
